Is my practice private?

Yes. We value your privacy and your academic freedom, so we built Greenroom as an encrypted platform where every faculty member keeps their own account and their own data. Your rehearsals and reflections are encrypted to you; we can't read them, and neither can your institution.

Can my college see this?

No. Nothing about your practice is reported to your college. We did, however, build tools you can use to share your own professional growth on your own terms — a Practice Record you can bring to an annual review or a promotion case, if and when you decide that serves you.

Is this the same AI my students use to cut corners?

It's a different use of the same kind of technology. Here it's your private practice partner — a stand-in for a student so you can rehearse — and your students never interact with it. The point isn't to outsource the work; it's to prepare for it.

Why use this instead of a free chatbot?

A general chatbot can hold a basic role-play. What it can't do is stay in character when you get firm, remember a year of your practice, ground its coaching in cited research rather than plausible-sounding advice, or keep what you wrote where nobody, including us, can read it. Greenroom is free too, so this isn't a question about price. It's a question about whether the practice partner holds up.

Are you trying to replace faculty with AI?

The opposite. Greenroom exists to help you do the irreplaceably human part of teaching better. It coaches the practice; it never steps into the classroom.

What if I accidentally include a student's name?

You don't have to worry about it. Greenroom is built so you never need to share anything identifying — write “a student,” “my colleague,” “my college.” And if something slips in when you build your own scenario, we catch it: every submission is scrubbed for names, IDs, emails, and institutions before it's saved, and you see exactly what changed and confirm before anything is stored. Nothing you submit reaches the shared library without a human reviewing it first.

Is it really free?

Yes, and not as a trial. The whole library, every practice partner, every difficulty setting, and full coaching, for as long as you teach. There is no paid version and no payment method to enter. Greenroom is a research project now rather than a product, which is a longer way of saying nobody is going to ask you for money.

What is the study, and am I in it?

You are not, unless you deliberately join. There is an optional study of whether rehearsing these conversations actually helps faculty, and it lives on its own page with the full consent text. Using Greenroom does not enroll you in anything, joining takes a separate opt-in, and you can withdraw in one click. If you join, you answer five short questions at the start and again later, and we record how much you used the tool. Your rehearsal conversations are never part of it: they are encrypted on your device and unreadable to us unless you choose to share one specific conversation.
