Privacy
Privacy is the product.
We value your privacy and your academic freedom, so we designed Greenroom around them from the start. Your rehearsals and reflections are encrypted to your own account, which means we cannot read them and your institution cannot either. We don't collect student information, and we actively strip identifying details from anything you bring in. We've also built tools that let you share your own professional growth — a Practice Record for reviews or promotion — entirely at your discretion. In short: your practice is yours, and sharing is always your decision.
The plain-English summary below is how Greenroom handles your data. A full legal policy is in attorney review before public launch.
The short version
- Your practice is private. Your rehearsal conversations and written reflections are encrypted so that no one at Greenroom — including the founder — can read them.
- We never collect student data. Greenroom is your private practice partner; your students never interact with it, and we actively strip identifying details if they slip into anything you type.
- Sharing is always your choice. Nothing about your practice is reported to your institution. We did build tools that let you share your own growth — a Practice Record for a review or promotion case — entirely when and if you decide to.
- We don't sell your data, and we don't show ads.
- You own your data and can export or delete it at any time.
What we collect
Your email (for sign-in), an optional profile about your teaching that you can skip, your rehearsal content (encrypted and unreadable by us), and standard product analytics like rehearsals completed and growth signals. There is no payment of any kind, so we never handle billing or card details.
What we do not collect
Student personally identifying information (our tools instruct you to omit it, and an automated process strips identifying details before storage), and precise or device-based location. We do not sell your personal information or use it for third-party advertising.
Your most sensitive data
Rehearsal transcripts and reflections are client-side encrypted — unreadable in our systems, including by our own staff. AI processing is zero-retention: your prompts and the AI's responses are not retained by the provider and not used to train any model. Product improvement runs on de-identified metrics, never on your conversations.
No institutional reporting
Greenroom does not integrate with, or report to, any college or employer. There are no administrator dashboards and no usage data shared with institutions — not even aggregate counts. The only artifact that ever reaches a third party is a report you choose to export.
Cookies & analytics
We use minimal cookies and Google Analytics to understand and improve how the site is used. Analytics is on by default, but you can opt out anytime from the banner, and we honor the “Do Not Track” and Global Privacy Control browser signals. Analytics never sees your practice, which stays encrypted to you.
Your rights
You can access, export, correct, or delete your data and withdraw any consent at any time from your account or by contacting us. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws like GDPR or CCPA.
Research is separate and optional
You can use every part of Greenroom without joining the study, now and later, and nothing about the tool changes either way. Joining is a separate, explicit choice on its own page, with the full consent text in plain language, and it cannot happen by accident.
If you do join: your study records carry a random code rather than your name, your encrypted rehearsals and reflections are never part of it, nothing is ever reported about a group smaller than ten, and no college is told anything about you. You can withdraw in one click, which stops collection immediately and deletes the study data we hold from you, apart from anything already analyzed and published, which cannot honestly be pulled back out. Withdrawing does not touch your account or your own practice history.
